Here’s what we know about Sonic Superstars’ release date so far.
When is Sonic Superstars coming out?
Sonic Superstars’ release date window is between September 1–November 30. This Fall 2023 window was revealed during Summer Game Fest’s opening showcase.
Sonic Superstars was first revealed during the Summer Game Fest 2023 event, with a trailer highlighting its 2D action platforming action. The game features Sonic and the series’ cast of characters, including Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose.
Unlike the recent Sonic Frontiers, which provided another take on 3D Sonic platforming, Superstars provides a return to classic 2D gameplay. However, this time there’s a big twist — you can bring your friends along for the ride, too.
Similar to other co-op platforms such as Super Mario 3D World, Superstars allows your friends to join you and make use of their characters’ unique abilities to progress through each level. The trailer even featured a nod to old-school Sonic, with the Sega mascot progressing through a Genesis-era Green Hill Zone before making the shift to a new take on the classic stage.

What platforms is Sonic Superstars coming out on?
Sonic Superstars has been announced for Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox, PC, and PS4. It is set to release on all platforms simultaneously.
The official synopsis for the game reads:
“Adventure through the mystical Northstar Islands in this all-new take on classic 2D Sonic high-speed action platforming!“
